What a great time we had last week! The MVCC held its annual Golf Classic last Thursday at the Verdugo Hills Golf Course to raise scholarships for gifted students at Crescenta Valley High School. We enjoyed a great turnout; a wonderful afternoon was enjoyed by everyone. I was a little disappointed that this course didn’t have a cool windmill at the end. But hey—can’t win all the time, right? Congratulations to Mark Campbell, the winner of our 2010 Golf Classic. The MVCC thanks Leo’s All Star Sports Bar & Grill for hosting the award ceremony and after party. And our biggest thanks go out to our Tournament Chairman, Rick Dinger, for making this event the success it deserved to be. Rick’s tireless work over the years has helped many of our local students achieve their college dreams. Thanks again, Rick!
Next week on May 5th, the MVCC will be holding a joint mixer with the CV Chamber at the CV Water District at 3730 Glenwood Ave. in La Crescenta from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Come join us for an evening of great fun, food, and networking with our friends from the Crescenta Valley Chamber. Entry fee is $7 for members; $9 for non-members. If you’d like to know more information about this forthcoming mixer, please contact us at the MVCC office at (818)249-7171.
Keep your calendar marked for May 8th as the MVCC will be holding the first of its 2010 Artwalks that Saturday. I’ll be sure to break out my deluxe, 64 piece set of Crayolas for this. Come see fine artists and artisans at work and enjoy the lively ambience provided by our participating musicians. Artists will also be selling their works to the public. So don’t miss out on your chance to obtain a new objet d’art by our local Miros, Rodins, Hockneys. If you’re an artist that would enjoy the opportunity to participate at the Artwalk, contact our chamber office today. Don’t forget your beret and smock.
On May 31st, come join the MVCC and the Montrose Shopping Park as we honor the men and women that safeguard our freedoms. Join us at the Vietnam War Memorial on Honolulu and Oceanview for our annual Memorial Day Tribute. Our very own treasurer, Charles Beatty, will be the master of ceremonies. Give thanks to our servicemen and women past and present and join us. The event will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Please contact the MVCC for more information.
