It’s A Family Affair at the New Billy’s Boardshop

Last weekend I ran into Dawn Meehan whose family owns the building that houses Billy’s Boardshop. She was so excited about what the new owners have done with Billy’s. Of course I had to go and take a look. Meet Christian and Jackie Cuesta, a very creative local couple who are living out their dream as “mom & pop” retailers in Montrose.  When you step into Billy’s you’ll be greeted with the aroma of coconut rum candles in a hip, beachy feel of ready-to-wear and sports attire for the whole family from kids to grandpa. The skateboard theme is still prevalent with the addition of giant video displayed from the ceiling. Stop by, say hi, and check out their newly remodeled digs at 2227 Honolulu Ave.

Feeling Merry at Executive Jewelers

NASA doesn’t mess around. When they needed a watch to tell time on Mars they searched the world over and found the best right here in Montrose. Garo Anserlian, owner of Executive Jewelers, was their man. If he can design for NASA, imagine what he can design for you! Here are Garo, center, with his two sons, all of whom are experts in jewelry design and repair. Executive Jewelers, right next to Faye’s, is a family affair. Even their dog comes to work with them.
