Dog owners looking to improve the behavior of their “best friends” should head on over to the Glendale Civic Auditorium where the Pasadena Humane Society will be offering basic obedience classes for dogs.
Beginning on Jan. 29, the five-week course is designed to deal with common dog behavior problems, such as jumping up, barking and chewing. It is intended for dogs 6 months old and older.
“You definitely don’t want a dog that’s chewing up something in the house or barking,” said Tamar Hadjimanoukian, Community Outreach assistant for the City of Glendale. “And that’s what this class is for, just to help families have happy pets in the home.”
Glendale City Councilmember Laura Friedman said the classes are also a good way to meet other dog owners.
Dogs must be comfortable interacting with strangers and other dogs. Instructions taught the dogs in the classes include sit, down, stay and wait and focus, and include loose leash walking and returning when called.
General registration is $130, $110 for Pasadena Humane adopters. The classes will be held every Thursday from Jan. 29 through Feb. 26 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Civic Auditorium is located at 1401 N. Verdugo Road. For more information, visit PasadenaHumane.org.
