5000 block of La Crescenta Avenue in La Crescenta, two pairs of shoes were stolen from the front porch of a home between midnight and 6:45 a.m.

Jan. 2

1000 block of Salisbury Court in La Cañada, a man reported while he was looking out the front window of his home office he saw a man, described as white, in his 30s with a thin build, walking on the front lawn. The man walked into the open attached garage and reappeared seconds later holding a black bag. The man got into a 1990s gold or beige Jeep Wrangler that was parked in front of the residence and drove away. The garage did not appear to be ransacked and the missing bag did belong to the resident of the home.

Foothill Boulevard and Rosebank Avenue in La Cañada, a Los Angeles man was arrested after deputies received a call concerning a suspicious man looking into vehicles in a parking lot. Deputies responded to the location and found the suspect who allegedly was carrying a “push” knife in his left hand (a push knife is a palm-sized dagger). Deputies requested the man put the knife down; he complied.

The man was arrested for being in possession of a dagger at 7:30 p.m.

2900 block of El Caminito Avenue in La Crescenta, a purse was stolen and the front passenger window was smashed on a vehicle that was parked in front of a home overnight.

2800 block of Stevens Street in La Crescenta, an iPod and battery pack were stolen from a locked vehicle overnight.

2800 block of El Caminito Avenue in La Crescenta, jewelry and coins were stolen and the console to a vehicle was broken overnight.
