One Dies in Collision

Earlier today, Monday, six Glendale Fire Dept. units, including one battalion command team, two engine companies, one truck company, and two basic life support ambulances, were dispatched to a traffic collision on the southbound Glendale (2) freeway just north of the Mountain Street exit.

Glendale Truck 29 was first to arrive on scene and discovered three vehicles collided on the freeway.

The occupants of two of the vehicles self-extricated prior to the arrival the firefighters and did not sustain any injuries. The single occupant of the third vehicle was trapped.

Glendale firefighters extricated the patient using specialized hydraulic tools to cut off the driver side door. When the patient was removed from the vehicle, Glendale firefighter paramedics quickly rendered medical assistance and transported the patient to a local hospital. The patient succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.

Glendale Fire Dept. resources were on scene for one hour and 12 minutes.
