Mountain Avenue Elementary School held its annual spelling bee competition in January. Fifteen of the best spellers from fourth, fifth and sixth grades competed at this event.
The room was filled with energetic students focused on spelling the sometimes complicated words correctly. At the end of the competition, sixth grader Mina Truong earned the title of Mountain Avenue spelling bee champion. Ian Baek, also a sixth grader, came in second.
Mina, who had placed second twice before, will be heading to the district spelling bee competition next.
