UPDATE:
The Glendale Police Department Traffic Division have made an arrest in the fatal hit and run collision that occurred on March 6, at approximately 4:55p.m., in the 1200 block of East Wilson Avenue.
The suspect, identified as 55 year old Shant Badleean of Glendale, self-surrendered at the Glendale Police Department and he was accompanied by his family. Badleean was placed under arrest and charged with felony hit and run. His bail is set at $50,000.00.
The traffic collision remains under investigation by Glendale Detectives.
UPDATE: The investigation continues into the fatal hit and run that occurred in Glendale on Friday.
At about 4:55 p.m. on Friday, the Glendale Police Department received numerous calls concerning a child that was struck by a vehicle in the 1200 block of East Wilson Avenue, according to a release from GPD.
Preliminarily, it appears the four-year-old girl ran from the north side of the street, between two vehicles and into the westbound lane of traffic. She was struck by a light colored sedan traveling westbound. Upon impact she was thrown a distance into a parked vehicle. The striking vehicle fled the scene.
The girl is identified as Violeta Khachaturyan, a resident of Glendale. She was treated at the scene and transported to Glendale Adventist Medical Center by the Glendale Fire Department where she was pronounced dead.
“This tragic event weighs heavy on the hearts of all our police and fire personnel who were involved in the response and treatment of little Violeta,” said Chief Robert Castro. Our prayers and thoughts are with the family and friends as we all try to cope with this horrific event. I know my personnel and I gave our children an extra kiss good night last night.”
Investigators are trying to determine what events precipitated the accident. Both parents were present when the accident occurred.

Glendale police are investigating a hit-and-run fatality that occurred this afternoon at Wilson Street and Olive Avenue.
At about 4:55p.m. a vehicle struck a four-year-old girl, the vehicle then fled the scene. The girl was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead at 5:34 p.m.
Detectives are on scene at present interviewing witnesses. At this point the only description of the vehicle is that it was white. There is no information on the driver at this time, said Tahnee Lightfoot, GPD spokesperson.
“We understand the (girl) was with family members at (the time of the accident),” Lightfoot said.
