Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in women in the United States but education about prevention can be the difference between life and death. As a cost-free service to the local community, USC Verdugo Hills Hospital (USC-VHH) will host a lecture, “Cardiovascular Disease in Women: Understanding the Risk Factors,” featuring cardiologist Helga Van Herle, M.D., on Friday, March 27 from 6 to 7 p.m.

The lecture is a part of the hospital’s quarterly Health Talk community lecture series. Dr. Van Herle will provide valuable heart health information about early recognition of heart attack symptoms that are different for women than men, the management of risk factors, preventative recommendations for heart disease and the latest medical screenings for heart disease.

Dr. Van Herle is an associate professor of clinical medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of USC and a noninvasive cardiologist at Keck Medical Center of USC and USC-VHH.
