»Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce “Our Business is Your Business”

This week we begin an occasional column called Member Spotlight. We’ll highlight local businesses and organizations that are active in the community, have a long history in the Crescenta Valley, or are just interesting in some way. This week, we’ll look at J’s Maintenance, Harmony Health MD and the LC Woman’s Club.

J’s Maintenance has been part of the fabric of the Crescenta Valley since 1985. Owner Chris Waldheim took over the business from his parents who established it way back in 1969. J’s Maintenance has a reputation for unparalleled professionalism in commercial and residential cleaning. J’s Maintenance has the technical skills to handle any kind of maintenance needs. J’s Maids, the residential division, cleans your house quickly and efficiently with a team of two or three people.

It’s a well-oiled machine at J’s Maintenance with vans coming and going at their Foothill Boulevard headquarters. Most impressive is that they do all this with a corporate commitment to sustainability. Solar power, an active recycling program and environmentally friendly cleaning products are just the beginning of their growing commitment.

He is a health coach certified by the McDonald Center for Obesity Prevention and Education.

Harmony Health MD is a member of the Optimal Health Movement, a group that reinforces what health truly comprises: active lifestyle, rejuvenating sleep, warm relationships, stress coping skills, personal development and wholesome nutrition. The La Crescenta Woman’s Club has been a powerhouse of philanthropy since its inception in 1911. Based in an historic building on La Crescenta Avenue, the Woman’s Club’s original objectives, when it incorporated back in 1924, were “advancement in all lines of general culture, promotion of general welfare of the community, and philanthropy work.” Today it is dedicated to “serving the community while developing friendships and personal growth.” It has raised countless dollars to offer grants and assistance to over 100 different philanthropies.

The Woman’s Club holds regular social events, bringing members of the community together. Coming up are Derby Days on April 18 and the Spring Tea Party on May 9. This is also the time of year when they’re poring over scholarship applications. Awarding scholarships to deserving area youths is a particular point of pride for the Woman’s Club and has been for nearly 50 years. Each May they award at least $2,500 to graduating seniors in the GUSD.

Did you know the La Crescenta Woman’s Club rents out their lovely building for all types of events? It is one of the only facilities in town that can accommodate nearly 200 people. See their website www.lacrescentawomansclub for more information or to learn more about the many ways they serve our community.
