Party! People! Pastries! Happy Birthday, Montrose!
What a blessing it is when people are of one accord! Last Sunday, The Montrose Shopping Park board, longtime business owners, City of Glendale officials, MVCCC members, customers, neighbors and friends all came together to celebrate Montrose. The small town “Mayberry” atmosphere was in abundance on a beautiful, sunny day full of colorful umbrellas, smiles, and happy hearts. On this day MSPA board members took turns presenting community awards to some of our favorite business owners who have help shaped the Montrose Shopping Park. It’s always interesting to get to know the owners better and discover little known facts about what they do.
I love the people in this town and our special events which all seem to revolve around food. How nice it was to see the Grijalva family present as their matriarch, Myrna, was honored with the Montrose Heritage Award. Their restaurant Joselito’s is a Montrose favorite and Myrna spent many years serving the community. What a happy day! I was snapping pics left and right and you will find them all on our MSP Facebook page. Watch for three generations of the Grayson family, Deborah of El Charro, Garo of Executive Jewelers, and more. Of course some of my favorite pics are of Lina Wallace serving her amazing pastries from La Fleur Pastry. Robin Goldsworthy, Paula Devine and I were in fruit tart heaven. A perfect ending to a very sweet day! Happy Birthday Montrose!
