City Council Swearing in Ceremony
On Monday, April 17 Glendale’s two new city council members will be sworn in. Join us at 7 p.m. in the council chambers in city hall as Paula Devine and Vartan Gharpetian are sworn in for their four-year terms. The council chambers are located at 613 E. Broadway in the main building. Free parking is available behind the building. Access to the parking lot is on Wilson Ave., one street north of Broadway. Take this opportunity to meet all of the council members who serve the city of Glendale. We hope to see you there.
Our 19th annual golf tournament will be on Thursday, May 14. Please come out and join us and play a round of golf at the Verdugo Hills Golf Course and help us raise money for scholarships for graduating seniors from CVHS and Clark Magnet HS. We will once again be allowing disc golfers to play in the tournament. You can create your own disc golf team, join an existing team or create your own mixed team. Registration is from 10:30 a.m. to noon, putting challenge is at 11 a.m., lunch is from 11 a.m. to noon and we have a shotgun start at high noon. Then we finish the day with our scholarship and awards ceremony. Refreshments are provided throughout the course. You can find our golf tournament and sponsorship application on our website at www.montrosechamber.org. We hope to see you all there. Please contact the chamber office if you need additional information.
Don’t forget the Taste of Montrose that is coming up on Sunday, May 3 in conjunction with the Harvest Market and the annual Kids & Kritters/Wags & Whiskers event. This is a great way to get a “taste” from many of the restaurants in Montrose that you might not have tried and from the new ones that have come to town. The event raises money for Prom Plus which is a great local organization that hosts the “$20,0000 after prom party of the year.” This party provides kids a safe place to go after the prom which lasts all night. It includes a climbing wall, games, dancing, prizes and so much more. Please come out and support this event. You can get your ticket at the Montrose Chamber office.
We are still taking applications for our first ArtWalk of the season on May 16. If you are looking for a place to display your artwork, this is it. For more information please contact the chamber office. You can download the application and find out all the details on our website, www.montroseartwalk.com.
