Hi, CV!

Tonight, Thursday, is our final Teen Trials & Tribulations for the school year. Tina Givrad, PhD, really likes kids and is fascinated by how their brains form and function. And she really likes CV because this is the third speech she’s given to us on this topic! She invites you to bring your child with you at 7 p.m. in CV High Library, 2900 Community Ave. so they can understand how their actions and hobbies today influence their futures. Bring friends!

We will have a table at the USC-VHH/Glendale Healthy Kids community health fair, “Your Health. Your Hospital,” on Saturday, May 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The fair will be held at USC­ VHH, on the hospital’s fourth floor main lobby and patio area. Screenings and parking are free and you’ll walk away with healthy swag. I hope that you stop by and talk to the board members who will be there on our behalf.

Other big news is that after all these years in the CV Chamber office, CV Alliance is moving to the Montrose Chamber office beginning May 1. Our new address will be 3516 Verdugo Road, Glendale 91208. We will have an office warming once we get established and you’re invited. We cannot thank the CV Chamber enough for their support of what was the Crescenta Valley Drug and Alcohol Prevention Coalition. Because of them we had a fiscal agent giving us legitimacy, an office and automatic friends. The Chamber is the hub of a community – I had no idea just how important they are until I sat in this space! Not only do they run the key events in the community, like this weekend’s Hometown Country Fair and Oktoberfest, staff answers all kinds of questions about chickens, Glendale/county services and boundaries, and locating businesses. It’s crazy wild. They do things I thought only field reps did. So my hat is off to both chambers and their boards. And I thank them most for Julia Rabago, six­year Chamber staff veteran and my partner in prevention.
