‘Kids in the Kitchen’ Hosted by JLP

The Junior League of Pasadena is hosting the seventh annual Kids in the Kitchen event.  On Sunday, May 3 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., children of all ages and their caretakers are invited to Madison Elementary School in Pasadena at 515 E. Ashtabula St. in Pasadena to learn about health, physical fitness and nutrition. Last year’s event had over 200 attendees. The event and all associated activities are free to the public.

The event will include stations where young people will learn about healthy choices in eating and create and taste healthy snack options. Additionally, there will be an opportunity to try and participate in different types of physical activities, as well as create a craft project to take home. Educational information for parents, family members and caregivers will be available with ideas on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle at home.

The Kids in the Kitchen program is an ongoing initiative of The Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc. designed to address the growing epidemic of childhood obesity and promote a healthy lifestyle for young people. Junior Leagues, in more than 200 locations across the country, provide lessons and demonstrations related to fitness and preparation of healthy meals and snacks in partnership with local community organizations, chefs and fitness professionals.
