1922 – 2015

Our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend Veatus Marie Metsker went to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully and in her sleep on June 15. She was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Mona Skinner. She is survived by her two sisters Shirley Hughey and Vera Weltmer; five children and their spouses, Marsha & Paul Boyd, Sharon & Doug Plumlee, Frank & Linda Metsker, Eileen & Wes King and Debra & Chris Casey; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

Veatus was born on March 10, 1922 in Lamar, Colorado. In 1939, her family left to escape the Dust Bowl and moved to La Crescenta. She attended Glendale High School her senior year. She met and married Francis L. Metsker on June 21, 1940.

She attended Christian Life Church during her years in La Crescenta and raised her children there. She was involved in women’s ministries and held Bible studies in her home.

She was a hard worker and was blessed to work over 40 years with her sisters and niece in the escrow business before retiring at the ripe old age of 85. She had a fun sense of humor and kept it until the end. She opened her heart and home to many of her children and grandchildren over the years and was always there for them.

In 2012 she moved to Renton, Washington where she lived with her daughter Marsha and her husband Paul who lovingly cared for her until the end of her life.

She will be truly missed.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 25 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Montrose Church at 2409 Florencita Dr., Montrose.
