Daniel Lazier of La Cañada Flintridge, son of David and Janet Lazier and a graduate of Flintridge Preparatory School, graduated with a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from Bucknell University.

Kailey Tindle of Glendale, daughter of Stephen and Vivian Tindle, and Amy Nance, a graduate of Crescenta Valley High School, graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in neuroscience. Kailey is a member of Mortar Board Leadership Honor Society and Phi Sigma Biology Honor Society.

Bucknell University released the dean’s list for outstanding academic achievement during the 2015 spring semester. Dean’s list students have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a scale of 4.0.

Stephanie Beck and Daniel Lazier of La Cañada Flintridge and Kailey Tindle of Glendale were named to the dean’s list at Bucknell University for the spring semester of 2014-15 academic year.

La Crescenta resident Gavin Traber, a sophomore molecular and cellular biology major at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas is among more than 1,200 university students included on the dean’s list for grades achieved during the spring 2015 semester.

The dean’s list is published each semester by Dr. Larry Long, university provost, honoring those who have achieved high scholarship. To be eligible, a student must be carrying 12 or more hours with a 3.65 or higher grade-point average and no incompletes.

Adamiak participated in the university’s Honors Program designed to provide smart, passionate and engaged students with challenges and opportunities to allow them to achieve their intellectual goals. It emphasizes teaching excellence, small seminar-style classes, and a core curriculum of innovative courses. Matthew Cannata of La Cañada earned a bachelor’s degree in finance. Joshua Chi of La Crescenta earned a bachelor’s degree in accountancy and finance. Chi graduated cum laude. Sara Gangi of Glendale earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing.

Laura McClelland of La Cañada earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing. McClelland graduated magna cum laude.

Sarah Phillips of Glendale earned a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies. Phillips graduated summa cum laude. William Thompson of La Crescenta earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. Thompson graduated cum laude. Thompson completed the requirements for graduation in January of this year.

Porter Tolkin of La Cañada earned a bachelor’s degree in communication studies. Elisa YiDonoy of La Cañada earned a bachelor’s degree in communication studies.

Andrea Miller of La Cañada has earned an undergraduate degree from California Lutheran University. Miller graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in marketing communication. Miller completed the requirements in the fall term and was eligible to participate in the 2015 Undergraduate Commencement held May 16 in William Rolland Stadium.

Sarah Elaine Lowenthal of La Crescenta has accepted membership in The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS). NSCS is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is the nation’s only interdisciplinary honors organization for first-year and second-year college students.

Army and Navy Academy’s 104th commencement ceremony was held on Saturday, June 6. Diplomas were presented by Dr. Lisa Basista, dean of Academics, in the Saturday afternoon ceremony, along with special awards.

Graduates included Ian Kim of Shadow Hills who he is enrolling at Pepperdine University and Brandon Um of La Cañada who is enrolling at the University of California, Irvine.

Christine Martinez of Tujunga earned a Bachelor of Arts, political science, with a minor in women’s & gender studies at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. Students participated in graduation exercises during the school’s commencement ceremony that was held on Sunday, May 11 in Spokane’s Veterans’ Memorial Arena.

Gonzaga University is a private Catholic, Jesuit, and humanistic university providing education to more than 7,800 students.

Amelia Palacios, the daughter of Maureen and Jorge Palacios of La Crescenta, has been named to the dean’s list of Macalester College for academic achievement during the spring semester of the 2014-15 school year.

A graduate of Crescenta Valley High School, Palacios was a sophomore at Macalester last spring.

The dean’s list at Macalester College is published at the end of each semester.

The Georgia Institute of Technology presented degrees to approximately 2,700 undergraduate and graduate students during the Institute’s 249th commencement exercises on May 1 and May 2 at the McCamish Pavilion. Among these students were Kevin Chow of La Cañada who earned a Master of Science in mechanical engineering, Michael Fifield of La Cañada Flintridge who earned a Bachelor of Science in aerospace engineering and Joshua Lee of Tujunga who earned a Bachelor of Science in computer engineering.

Jessie Um of La Crescenta was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2015 semester at St. Louis College of Pharmacy. To make the dean’s list, students must earn a 3.5 GPA in the semester. Um is a graduate of Village Christian High School. She is the daughter of Binny and Christy Um.

Angela Gaignard from Sunland earned a spot on the spring 2015 president’s list at Southern Arkansas University. Gaignard is a senior athletic training major.

Gaignard was one of 272 students named to the spring president’s list. To qualify, a student must earn a 4.0 GPA for the semester.

Mackenzie Knight of La Crescenta was among the more than 7,560 Iowa State University undergraduates recognized for outstanding academic achievement by being named to the 2015 spring semester dean’s list. Students named to the dean’s list must have earned a grade point average of at least 3.50 on a 4.00 scale while carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours of graded course work.

Amelia Kunert from La Cañada has been named to the spring 2015 dean’s list at Wake Forest University located in Winston Salem, North Carolina.

Students who achieve a 3.4 grade point average and no grade below a “C” were named to the list.

Miami University students who are ranked in the top three percent of undergraduate students within each division for second semester 2014-15 have been named to the president’s list recognizing academic excellence.

Stefan is majoring in microbiology, premedical studies.

Walter A. Harris, son of George and Robin Harris of La Crescenta and a 2015 graduate of Maranatha High School in Pasadena, has accepted an appointment to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut.

The U.S. Coast Guard Academy is an accredited college educating future Coast Guard officers. Admission to the Academy is highly competitive and less than 350 appointments are offered annually from a pool of over 2,200 applicants. Cadets receive a full tuition scholarship and monthly stipend for a five-year service commitment to the U.S. Coast Guard upon graduation. All graduates receive a Bachelor of Science degree and are guaranteed a position of leadership as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Coast Guard.

Sophie Grace Schnee of La Cañada attending Robbins College of Health and Human Sciences, Elena Gabrielle Leon from La Crescenta attending School of Education and Maria D Leon, also from La Crescenta, attending Robbins College of Health and Human Sciences were among the more than 3, 100 Baylor University students named to the dean’s academic honor roll for the 2015 spring semester. To be named to the dean’s list, a student must be an undergraduate with a minimum grade-point average of 3.7, while enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours.

A private Christian university and a nationally ranked liberal arts institution, Baylor is classified as a research university with “high research activity” by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.

Colin Neil of La Crescenta recently received a Master of Business Administration degree in management from Frostburg State University in Frostburg, Maryland during its 146th commencement ceremonies. FSU President Jonathan C. Gibralter conferred nearly 700 undergraduate and graduate degrees at this May commencement.
