The Campbell Center (formerly GAR) announced it is the recipient of an unrestricted multi-year grant of $150,000 from the Weingart Foundation in support of its mission.

“We are deeply grateful to generous donors who recognize the importance of our mission and the work we at TCC are doing to empower our clients,” said Wendy Jacoby, president of The Campbell Center board. “I am very proud of our grant writer, Valerie Weich, whose expertise is instrumental to our organization being favorably considered for grants by Foundations such as Weingart.”

The Campbell Center has been an integral part of the developmentally disabled community for the past 60-plus years. On a daily basis, TCC serves over 120 clients through its various programs, setting them on their path to achieve their maximum level of independence.

“The fact that the grant is earmarked for unrestricted operating support is a tremendous help in ensuring that we can continue to provide quality programs and services to our clients throughout the coming years,” said Sandy Contreras, The Campbell Center chief executive officer.

The Campbell Center (formerly GAR) was founded in 1954 as a nonprofit organization, by Phyllis and Jerry Campbell, parents of a daughter with Down syndrome. Over the ensuing 60 years, the organization evolved into an agency whose mission is to provide adults with disabilities the opportunity to achieve their highest level of independence through vocational training, residential placement, job placement, community integration and education. The Campbell Center is named in honor of Janice Campbell, the founders’ daughter.
