Two Juveniles Arrested on Suspicion of Burglary

On Aug. 20, at about 1:55 p.m., a Glendale police officer saw a car traveling northbound on Pennsylvania Avenue; its passenger side headlight did not function. As the officer made a U-turn, the car quickly turned left into a driveway in the 4400 block of Pennsylvania Avenue.

The officer located the car at the end of the driveway and, while approaching it, she heard a loud thump and a male began running from the car. The officer contacted a female sitting inside the car who was identified as a 16-year-old from Long Beach. A safe was lying on the ground next to the vehicle.

During the course of the investigation, the male returned and was identified as a 17-year-old from Long Beach. A search revealed a black glove in his pant pocket.

Both juveniles did not have an explanation for the safe or why they were in La Crescenta.

Officers searched the car and located three cellphones, gloves and two crowbars.

Based on the investigation, the juveniles were arrested for burglary and released to family members.

On Aug. 20 at about 11:21 a.m., officers responded to a commercial burglary report in the 2900 block of Honolulu Avenue. Suspects smashed the front window and stole a safe. Further investigation revealed the safe recovered during the night was the same safe stolen from this location.
