Lisa Kenigson of La Crescenta was named to the chancellor’s list at Troy University in Alabama for the summer semester/term five of the 2014-15 academic year.
The chancellor’s list honors full-time undergraduate students who are registered for 12 semester hours and who earn a grade point average of 4.0.

Jae Lee, a 2011 graduate of Crescenta Valley High School and a 2015 graduate of Cornell University, has been accepted into the Teach for America 2015 teaching corps. Teach For America is a national nonprofit working to expand educational opportunity for students in low-income communities. Corps members commit to teach in high-need urban or rural public schools and become lifelong advocates for educational equity.
Lee will teach in Greater Philadelphia.

Caylie Denham of Tujunga is a member of the 2015 Hofstra University volleyball team. The Hofstra volleyball team has begun its preparations for the upcoming 2015 campaign as the 16 student-athletes on the team have returned to campus and begun fall camp practice. Hofstra is coming off a solid 2014 season as the Pride went 28-6 and captured its third Colonial Athletic Association title and second in the last three years.
Hofstra University is a nationally ranked private university just 25 miles from New York City and all its cultural, recreational and professional opportunities.

The San Diego State University fall 2015 semester welcomed its first group of honors college inductees, including Lauren Case-Mcfate, a Sunland native and SDSU student studying environmental engineering.
SDSU’s Weber Honors College features a unique interdisciplinary curriculum made up of small, discussion-based seminars and innovative teaching techniques that promote active engagement in the subject area and prepare students for high-impact educational experiences beyond the classroom, including study abroad, research, leadership, service, and creative activity; and for future graduate work and successful careers regardless of their chosen field of study.

The Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor, Connecticut honored the 186 members of the Class of 2015 at a gathering on campus for the 99th commencement ceremony in May. Danielle Comorre from Tujunga was an honor roll student, a recipient of the Coaches’ Award for varsity softball, and was a tri-varsity athlete on the field hockey, girls’ ice hockey, and softball teams. Comorre also served as a dorm prefect and was a member of PRISM, a multicultural group on campus.

Jae Eun Lee of La Crescenta, a member of the Colgate Class of 2018, has earned the dean’s award for academic excellence for the spring 2015 semester.
This recognition is awarded to students with a 3.30 or higher term average.
