5500 block of Pine Cone Road in La Crescenta, jewelry was stolen and a sliding glass door was smashed at a residence. The resident reported leaving his home secured. When he returned he entered the home via a garage door. He heard something falling on the second floor of the residence and went upstairs to investigate. He discovered his bedroom had been ransacked. The burglary occurred between 4:20 p.m. and 8:20 p.m.

Sport Chalet Drive in La Cañada, a computer case and Chromebook were stolen from a backpack that had been placed on a bench inside the Sport Chalet store. The owner said he had placed the backpack on the bench while looking through the store. He was gone for about 10 minutes, and when he returned the items were missing from his backpack at
4:30 p.m.

Angeles Crest Highway and Foothill (210) freeway in La Cañada, a 23-year-old Los Angeles man was arrested for reasonable cause mail theft, receiving stolen property and driving on a suspended license after a routine traffic stop. After an investigation it was discovered the L.A. man was driving on a suspended license and was on formal probation for possession of narcotics and had an outstanding warrant. Deputies also discovered six cellphones and two pieces of mail not belonging to him. The arrest was made at

2800 block of Pinelawn Drive in La Crescenta, someone pulled the wires leading to the sprinkler timer at a home along with cutting wires on two of the valves. The wires were cut between Aug. 28 and Sept. 7.
