“ June is bustin’ out all over…”

Last Saturday, early morning, strong winds came blasting out of our canyons. Due to a high pressure system over the Great Basin creating this condition, Memorial Day weekend was very warm – 90 degrees. Many consider this time to be the start of summer. According to the position of the Earth in relationship to the Sun, summer actually begins June 21 at 7:28 a.m. EDT. So, enjoy spring while it lasts as soon it will be only a memory and a wish (for cooler days)!

With the transition from one season to the next, the weather day to day can be quite variable. We have seen this in the past week. As you pick up this paper Thursday, the day will most likely greet you with a few low clouds and later temperatures in the 80s.

Friday will be the start of another warm weekend – low 90s. Nighttime temperatures will remain in the upper 50s. June weather is not too exciting, but is certainly pleasant.  Enjoy!

Weather is certainly a factor in the number of marriages performed in of June. Also,the fact that this month is named after the Roman goddess Juno – protector of marriage and the home. Just one more bit of trivia to leave you with: In both common and leap years, no other month begins on the same day of the week as June.
