Rockhaven on CVCA Agenda
The Crescenta Valley Community Association will meet tonight, Thursday, Oct. 22 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the La Crescenta Library Community Room. The public is invited discuss Rockhaven and what would be appropriate at the site. Light refreshments will be served.

Town Hall Meeting
The public and members of the local media are invited to attend a “Legislative Year in Review” town hall meeting with Assemblyman Mike Gatto tonight, Thursday, Oct. 22 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The assemblyman will provide updates and information about the recently concluded 2015 legislation session, answer questions from the public and ask for legislative ideas to propose in the upcoming legislative session.

The town hall meeting takes place at Glendale Adult Recreation Center, 201 E. Colorado St. in Glendale.

GWP Hosting Utility Day
Glendale Water & Power (GWP) is hosting Utility Day at its Utility Operations Center (UOC) today, Thursday, Oct. 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Once a year, GWP hosts an open house for residents to showcase its operations, and to demonstrate to residents how it provides reliable electric and water service. Glendale residents will have the opportunity to tour the power plant, meet staff and visit different booths and demonstrations to learn about how water and electricity get to their homes.

Two public tours of the power plant and surrounding facilities will be held at 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. Free food and refreshments will be available at noon until they last. Due to the Utility Day events the GWP call center and payment counters will be closed from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. All calls will be routed to a voicemail system. Customers who leave a message will receive a response by 5 p.m. that day.

Rosemont Preserve Guided Walk
The community is invited for another in a series of guided tours at the Rosemont Preserve on Oct. 24 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Local hills and native gardens offer an assortment of plants that have value for their medicinal properties and material uses. The Arroyo Seco Foundation’s Hahamongna Nursery Manager Nicholas Hummingbird will help identify native plants commonly found in the Los Angeles Basin that can be harvested and put to use.

Hummingbird is a native plant activist and conservationist who has worked extensively on ecological restoration projects with Channel Islands National Park, Channel Islands restoration, Wishtoyo Foundation’s Chumash village in Malibu and several other organizations.

The Preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave., La Crescenta. Please bring water and a hat and wear sturdy shoes to walk the trail. Native plants will be available for sale after the tour.

This event is free to the public and suitable for all ages; no reservations required. Rain cancels event. Sorry, no pets please.
