At 3:38 Wednesday afternoon, Glendale Police Dept. received a call of an overturned van, according to Tahnee Lightfoot, spokeswoman for GPD. When they arrived on the scene they realized there was another silver compact vehicle crushed between a utility pole and the van. The driver of the van was traveling southbound on New York Avenue and apparently ran a red light and lost control of his vehicle hitting the silver compact that was traveling westbound on Foothill Boulevard.

Lightfoot said the male driver of the van, in his 20s, reported minor injuries. The driver of the compact vehicle was a man in  his 40s his passenger was his daughter, a young teen. The father and daughter were listed in critical condition and were airlifted to an L.A. County hospital. It is not known if the van had mechanical difficulties or there was driver error. The investigation is ongoing by GPD.

Glendale firefighters worked to free the father and daughter with the jaws of life.

Glendale Fire Dept. had nine resources responding in addition to one L.A. County Fire response, L. A. County airship and LASD Air 5, which landed at Clark Magnet High School to transport the victims.
