Taste of the Foothills is Coming
What do Blaze Pizza, Tortas Mexico and Etc. Gourmet Kitchen have in common? They’ll all be at Taste of the Foothills next Thursday, Nov. 5. You should be there, too! Your $20 donation allows you to sample tastes from the restaurants mentioned above plus Domino’s Pizza, El Charro, Frank’s Famous Kitchen, Thee Elbow Room, Orchard Flats Juicery, Ralphs Market, Seasoning Alley, Gelsinger’s Amber Road and Zeke’s Smokehouse. More restaurants are signing on every day!
Entry wristbands can be purchased at the event in the Ralphs Marketplace Shopping Center on Nov. 5 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. or can be pre-bought for a $1 discount at the Chamber office weekdays between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. or at the CV Weekly Office (3800 La Crescenta Ave. #101) between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Pick up a Dine Out form from your school or from the Chamber office and have 20% of the proceeds go back to your school. Tickets/wristbands can also be purchased at the Prom Plus booth this Sunday at the Montrose Shopping Park Harvest Market. Adult tickets are $20, seniors are $15, and kids 5-12 are $10. Children 4 and under get in free.
There will be live music by classic rockers Faith Alone and classic cars on display. You can even dance if you want to! So come for dinner, dessert and liquid refreshment like blood orange lemonade and Crescenta-Cañada Pet Hospital’s famous root beer floats. Come hungry and leave happy!
This past weekend the CV Chamber worked alongside Glendale Clean & Beautiful and dozens of volunteers on the annual Foothill Community Clean-Up Day. Students, parents and other community volunteers gathered together at Bob Smith Toyota. Then, armed with tools, gloves and lots of water, they fanned out around the neighborhood, picking up trash, pulling weeds, cutting down errant zip ties and generally sprucing up Foothill Boulevard. Bags full of debris were hauled back to a large bin provided courtesy of Burrtec. Continental breakfast and a pizza party were enjoyed by all! Thank you to Burrtec, Bob Smith Toyota, Glendale Clean & Beautiful and the many volunteers who dealt with cigarette butts, paper and chewing gum.
Besides this annual clean-up event, Steve Pierce and the CV Chamber lead a monthly clean up of the La Crescenta Avenue 210 freeway off-ramp. If you’d like to join them on the second Saturday of the month, call the office for more information.
So the next time you exit the freeway or travel down the boulevard, take a moment to notice how good our neighborhood looks and say a silent thank you to the folks who make it happen.
