Eric Boyd, a senior at Crescenta Valley High School, received this year’s Falcon Award.
Boyd is an Eagle Scout and an accomplished student ranking 34 in a class of 729. At the inaugural Character and Ethics Project ACE awards held recently Boyd was named Male Athlete of the Year and is also varsity volleyball captain and captain of his club volleyball team. He has worked at rebuilding houses after Hurricane Rita, has built schools for impoverished Haitian workers in the Dominican Republic on two week-long trips, and is scheduled to take another Dominican trip after graduation. Boyd also teaches JOLT classes at his church.
The Falcon Award finalists were Talar Alexanian, Ashley Park, Yoon Lee, Talar Malakian, Jessica Kim and Wayne Park. Boyd received $1500 and the finalists each got $250.
Students choose the winner of the Falcon Award and receiving the award is considered to be the highest honor a student can receive at CVHS.
The criteria of the Falcon Award area leadership, character, commitment and
community service. CVHS students nominate and a committee reviews resumes and conduct interviews.
