Dojun Kim of La Crescenta has been named a “Cadet of Distinction” at Army and Navy Academy. This title is given to those students who have achieved the highest citizenship grade attainable (excellent) and zero demerits for the entire first grading period of the 2015-16 school year. Kim was also named to the dean’s list.

Cadets of Distinction exhibit a strong commitment to the Academy’s unique character education program. They exemplify the Academy’s mission of educating, mentoring, and developing good character and leadership in young men.

Army and Navy Academy also announced that Do Won Kim of La Crescenta has been named to the honor roll for the first grading period of the 2015-16 school year.

Students with a grade point average of 3.50 or higher are named to the honor roll.

Founded in 1910, the Army and Navy Academy is a private not-for-profit institution that provides an academically robust, character-based education for young men, grades 7 through 12. It is the only private boarding school in San Diego County and the only private military academy for high school-age students in California and surrounding states.

Biola University named 1,566 students to the dean’s list for spring 2015. The following local residents received the award: Cecily Bell, Jayjeon Ghil, Christian Misi, Joanne Shim and Sarah Yoon of La Crescenta; Caleb Choi and Cindy Kim of La Cañada; Eunice Pak of Montrose.

Biola students are placed on the dean’s list to honor those with a grade point average of 3.6 or higher while enrolled in 12 of more credit units and whose cumulative grade point average is at least a 3.2. This past spring, 38% of Biola students achieved this academic goal.

Lindsey Espe of La Cañada was recently inducted into the Eta Chapter of Alpha Chi Honor Society at Belmont University.

Alpha Chi is the oldest and most prestigious honor society at Belmont, and induction into the society is the university’s highest academic honor awarded. Weston Foote of La Crescenta performed in the combined Symphonic Band and Jazz Ensemble concert at Cornell College on Friday, Nov. 13. Foote is a member of the Symphonic Band.

The concert featured works by Kenneth Alford, Elliot Del Borgo, Girolamo Frescobaldi, Randy Newman and Paul Clark.
