CVW has received many inquiries about the condition of a father and daughter who were in a horrific accident in the afternoon of Oct. 21 on Foothill Boulevard and New York Avenue.

Both father and daughter, a Crescenta Valley High School student, are home and recovering.

The two have a long recovery ahead of them and to make the holidays a little easier for the family the Glendale Police Dept. is raising funds to help the family. Anyone who would like to donate money or gift cards can contact Tahnee Lightfoot, GPD, at (818) 548-4818 or drop any donation at the Crescenta Valley Weekly office, 3800 La Crescenta Ave., Ste. 101.

The accident occurred at about 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 21. The vehicle driven by the father was traveling westbound on Foothill Boulevard when it collided with a van that was traveling southbound on New York Avenue. The driver of the van, in his 20s, apparently lost control of his vehicle. He reported minor injuries.

The force of the collision caused the compact vehicle driven by the father to crash into a utility pole on the southwest side of the intersection, the force so powerful that the vehicle bent around the pole. Glendale Fire Dept. personnel worked with the jaws-of-life to free the father and daughter who were trapped inside the vehicle. The father was ground transported to a nearby hospital; the daughter was airlifted to a nearby hospital. Both were listed in critical condition.

The deadline for donations of money or cards is Dec. 14.
