The Citizens Business Bank in the 800 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada was robbed about noon on Friday.
A man entered the bank and presented a teller with a note demanding cash, said Sgt. Ray Harley.
The teller complied and the man exited the building. A dye pack that was concealed in the cash exploded. The suspect abandoned the cash in the parking lot of the former Sport Chalet location.
The man is described as being in his 50’s with white hair and bushy mustache. He was 6 foot, about 190 pounds. At the time of the robbery he was wearing black jeans, a light colored striped button down shirt, and a white baseball cap.
He reportedly had been seen driving a white midsize SUV.
