Flintridge Prep dual star scholars and pole-vaulters Barrett and Gareth Weiss had a very successful track and field season. Gareth won the Division 4 championship title with a height of 15-6. Barrett took second with one fewer miss at 15-6. Barrett won first place at the CIF Masters meet clearing 15-3. Gareth took fourth clearing 15-3 but with two misses at the same height. Barrett cleared 15-9 (the same height as the other top two finishers) placing third due to more misses at a lower height at the CIF state championship.

At the Division 4 CIF finals, powerhouse distance runner Jack Van Scoter took second place in the 1600m with a time of 4:17.04. Teammate Nikhil Poole placed eighth (4:29.59). Van Scoter also placed fifth in the 3200m with a time of 9:27.89. The boys’ team won the fourth place team standing title with 31 points.

CV Falcon Megan Melnyk won the highest academic achievement at the CVHS track banquet with her 4.37 average. Melnyk had an incredible four years running track and field and cross-country at Crescenta Valley High School. She was determined to run three to four races at every meet while maintaining an optimistic disposition despite suffering injuries throughout this year. Melnyk won both the 1600 (5:03.06) and the 800 (2:17.16) at the Pacific League finals. Melnyk went on to take seventh at the CIF finals running 2:14.04 in the 800m.

CV Falcon Sammie Phinney had two second place finishes in the Pacific League finals running the 100H in 15.22 and 300H 46.89. She also took eighth in the 100H at the CIF finals in Division 1 running a time of 15:23, her fourth fastest time ever.

CV Falcon Emmie Walker won her fourth championship Pacific League title in the high jump clearing 5-6. At CIF finals, Walker placed seventh clearing a height of 5-3.
