Awards season is upon us! As many of you know at this time of year Hollywood hosts a flurry of award shows to honor the biggest and the brightest stars in all genres of media. Music, movies, actors, singers, songwriters, ensemble casts and the behind-the-scenes players who make it all possible. We here in Montrose also have our own list of people who are the “stars” that make Montrose the place that it is today. From businesses to business owners to non-profit organizations to clubs to volunteers to law enforcement and government officials, we have so many people we want to recognize! That is why we are having our Annual Installation Dinner and Community Awards Banquet smack in the middle of the flurry of awards season.

I like to compare our awards banquet to the Golden Globe Awards show. The Golden Globe Awards really are a “Who’s Who” of Hollywood where the biggest stars of both film and television come together. Stars get to catch up with old friends they haven’t seen in a while and meet someone they are secretly “star stuck” by for the first time. Our awards banquet in Montrose also brings together the “Who’s Who” of the Crescenta Valley. We bring together the “stars” from Montrose, La Crescenta and Glendale at our banquet and give you a chance to connect with people you don’t normally get a chance to see and meet people you have always wanted to meet. This year’s banquet is once again complete with our “Red Carpet Step and Repeat” and a celebrity photographer who just took photos on the red carpet for Sunday’s Golden Globes! How cool is that!? The banquet is on Thursday, Jan. 28 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the beautiful Oakmont Country Club.

This year’s award winners are an eclectic group of business owners, community organizations and members, law enforcement members and educators. Here is a complete list: Business of the Year – Jenkins Properties, Organization of the Year – Glendale Parks and Open Spaces, Business Person of the Year – Anthony Santillo of Giuseppe’s and Chicago Title, Chris Waldheim Oktoberfest Volunteer of the Year – Hall and Chambers, Educator of the Year – Dave Black of Clark Magnet High School, Peace Officer of the Year – Glendale Police Sergeant Craig Tweedy, Fire Fighter of the Year – Glendale Fire Department Battalion Chief Cody Smith, Beautification Award – Oakmont Country Club, Community Enhancement Award – Village Boutique & Boardshop, Community Endearment Award – Henry Baeza of Montrose Bakery and Café, Presidents Award – Julie Martin, Dilbeck Realty and the Frank Roberts Award – Paul Roberts, Landry’s Sporting Goods, posthumously. We are proud of each and every one of our winners and are honored to recognize them this year. To RSVP please contact the Chamber office and we will be happy to assist you.
