City of Glendale Community Resources & Outreach Meetings

The City of Glendale has been hard at work over the last several months to create practical and informative ways to disseminate information to their residents and businesses regarding the most current news, emergency preparedness and El Niño related information. The City and several of its departments are hosting many community outreach meetings in the area to get input on upcoming projects and services they are providing in the area. ElNinoReady.org, a new site created through a partnership among Glendale, Pasadena and Burbank, provides links filled with important information as well as the ability to sign up for alerts regarding El Nino. ElNinoReady.org will have extensive content, including a series of plans and safety precautions residents can take to prepare for wetter-than-average weather conditions. Residents will be able to receive information from their respective city and sign up for additional emergency alerts. Information detailing sandbag use and availability for each city, flood preparation and recovery, rainy weather safety tips, and animal preparedness are just some of the topics covered on the new website. Glendale Mobile is online now. The City of Glendale’s website has been officially optimized for the mobile viewing experience. This intuitive user interface allows residents to access City information and services from their handheld devices. You will find icons representing various city-related pages, including city council, emergency notifications, news, calendar, and more. Mayor Ara Najarian stated, “One of the top priorities in our mission is to have an informed and engaged community. I believe the new mobile website will be a powerful tool in our efforts to enhance our services and heighten engagement.”

The Glendale Police Dept. will be hosting “Smarter than a Scammer” forum at the Glendale Police Dept. community room on Jan. 26 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This is a free educational forum to help avoid scams. Ask the experts, enjoy lunch and play fraud bingo for prizes. The featured speakers are from the District Attorney’s Office, the Dept. of Business Oversight and the Glendale Police Dept. and inspectors from the United States Postal Office. The Glendale Police Dept. community room is located at 131 N. Isabel St., Glendale. Free parking is available at the City Hall parking lot and Dial-a-Ride is available for those who are unable to drive or do not have transportation.

The County of Los Angeles needs your input to help create the future of your parks! Parks are critical for healthy, thriving communities. The County wants to know what will make your family and your neighborhood healthy, happy and out getting physical exercise. Where do we most need new parks, recreation facilities or open space? Which parks need repair or expansion? What type of recreation is most needed? The outreach meeting will be on Saturday, Jan. 30 at 1 p.m. at the Sparr Heights Community Center.
