Feb. 4, 1947 – Jan. 11, 2016

Stephen Randall Hessong (aka “The Birdman of Balboa Lake”) was born on Feb. 4, 1947 and went to be with the Lord on Jan. 11.

Steve was born to Frank and June Hessong in Burbank. He graduated from Hoover High School in Glendale in 1964, and he served in the United States Army for two years.

Steve’s life was a living testament of his love for the Lord, his love for people and his love for all living creatures.

A memorial service will be held at Montrose Community Church, 2416 Montrose Ave., Montrose at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, Jan. 21. All are invited and Hawaiian shirts are welcomed in memory of Steve! In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Steve’s memory to Montrose Community Church, 2416 Montrose Ave., Montrose, CA 91020 or Sky Hospice 9253 Reseda Blvd., Northridge, CA 91324.

Steve is survived by his loving family and friends and will surely be missed!
