The Rosemont Middle School science bowl team placed third (bronze medal) for their outstanding performance at Cal State Los Angeles on Saturday, Jan 30 in the Los Angeles County Regional Final of the National Science Bowl competition. The Rosemont team was composed of eighth graders Eileen Stiles (captain), Samantha Fay, Natalie Lai, Athena Bamrick and seventh grader Jaya Hamkins. They competed with 18 teams from different cities around Los Angeles County.

Several schools have longstanding clubs that have attended the events for many years. The Rosemont team, going in as a novice, beat these experienced teams and entered the semi-finals losing to the defending champion LACES (second place) and Harvard Westlake (first place). Harvard Westlake will go on to compete in the national finals in Washington, D.C. at the end of April.
