The CV Skate Park at Crescenta Valley Park is 50% done. The park had originally scheduled a grand opening in May; however, there were a few issues that had to be taken of, which have been attended to, and now the grand opening is planned for late June/early July 2016.
L.A. County Parks and Recreation is planning a grand opening that will include booths showcasing local community organizations and vendors that have worked with skaters, plus a live local band and food.
The idea for the skate park came from local skaters from the Fire House youth center. The kids organized a committee, did outreach to local organizations and government offices and worked with Parks and Rec on the design.
Parks and Rec empowered the kids by allowing them to be part of the park from concept to design to the opening.
