The Daddy Daughter Dance at Valley View Elementary was held on Friday, Feb. 5 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the school auditorium. The theme of the dance was Arabian Nights. The school stage and auditorium were decorated with rich colorful fabrics and crystals.

The girls arrived in colorful dresses, headpieces and belly dancing scarves. After guests signed in, they were able to take a photo on a flying carpet with a backdrop of a curtain of colorful ribbon and jewels. Then it was off to the auditorium for a meal before dancing and dessert.

The sixth grade girls, their dads and younger siblings were able to sit on stage for dinner. Bright organza was draped around making it appear as if they were sitting in a tent in a far away land. A chandelier strung with crystals and feathers helped set the mood.

Shelby Thamasian served the stage guests Martinelli’s Sparkling Cider in champagne glasses while Cathy Turansky of Chas’s Catering prepared and presented a meal of chicken fettuccine Alfredo, pasta with Italian sausage, macaroni and cheese, Caesar salad, rolls and butter. Desserts of cookies, brownies, cupcakes, Rice Krispy treats and cake pops were donated by generous Valley View families for guests to enjoy.
The event DJ was Kendall Roberg, a regular at the Daddy Daughter Dances. Lighting and photography services were donated by Ron Arrendondo of Express Lighting & Grip Inc. He also has acted as professional photographer for the evening. Carlos Amaya was the light board operator, perfectly syncing the lights with the DJ’s music.

The dance is sponsored by the Valley View PTA whose president is is Tawni Smith. Diana Isaian, administrative secretary, and Principal Dr. Brook Reynolds were all helpful in making sure everything was arranged for the annual event. Dr. Reynolds also attended the dance with his daughter Megan, who wore a cream dress and pink corsage.
