CHP hosts Casino Night

“For how quickly we got it together, it was a great success in my opinion,” said CHP Officer Ming-Yang hsu. He was referring to Summer Soiree and Casino Night, a fundraiser held for the CHP Widows and Orphans Fund, which benefit families of officers who lost their lives while on duty.
The event took place at the Rosemont Pavillion at the Rose Bowl on Saturday, June 19.
Hsu estimates that around 120 people attended the soiree. “We actually made money,” he said. “However, since [CHP] Officer Tom Coleman died two weeks ago, we are donating the money specifically to his family. He was a part of the Altadena force for five years and was transferred to Redlands two years ago.
We still consider him a part of us and wanted to honor him.”
The inaugural event was planned in about two months with the aid of one volunteer. “We are hoping to make this an annual event, expanding it every year for such a needed and deserving cause,” added hsu.
