On February 17, at about 7:03 p.m., a traffic collision involving a pedestrian occurred on Verdugo Road near Wilson Avenue.
Preliminary investigation revealed a Toyota Camry was traveling southbound on Verdugo Road, south of Wilson Avenue during medium to heavy rainfall. A 56-year-old Glendale man was walking westbound across Verdugo Road outside the marked crosswalk and was struck by the Camry. The man sustained severe head injuries and was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 4:52 a.m.
The 51-year-old driver of Glendale remained at the scene and he was not impaired.
Based on the evidence at the scene and witness statements, the pedestrian was at fault for walking outside of the marked crosswalk, 149 feet from the intersection.

This is the first traffic related fatality in the City of Glendale in 2016.
