Veterans of Foreign Wars District 7 Commander Corey McKinney will be among the more than 500 members attending the VFW Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C., Feb. 28-March 3. District 7 includes Post 1614 in La Crescenta.

This annual conference amplifies the voices of the nearly 1.7 million VFW members and its auxiliaries, reminding lawmakers of the promises they’ve made to America’s service members. VFW members will meet with their elected officials, explaining in detail the organization’s stance on a variety of veterans’ issues.

Then, on March 2, Commander McKinney will be in attendance when VFW National Commander John A. Biedrzycki Jr. testifies before a special joint hearing of the House and Senate Veterans Affairs committees, presenting the VFW’s legislative agenda for the year.

Commander McKinney was selected to attend this conference based on VFW Dept. of California District 7’s top ranking in membership retention for all national and international districts in its size category.

VFW California District 7 comprises 22 Posts in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties and the San Fernando Valley. For information on the Veterans of Foreign Wars organization, go to vfw.org.
