The Montrose Brew Fest is on! Our event was such a huge success last time that we wanted to bring it back! So… The Montrose-Verdugo City Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the first annual Montrose Brew Fest and Backyard Home Brew Competition will be held on Sunday, April 3 from noon to 4 p.m. at the 2200 block of Honolulu Ave. in Montrose. This will be the second Brew Fest, but we are mixing it up and making some changes to make this event even better than the first! This includes the addition of our Backyard Homebrew Competition. If you have a brew, we want you! All categories of brews will be accepted and tasted the week before the festival. All that is required for participation is that you live in Los Angeles County! Scores will be derived from tasting notes and the top five beers will enter into a second round of tasting to determine a grand prize winner. This final round of judging will take place at the Montrose Beer Fest and winners will be announced. The judges are local “influencers” in the craft beer community so you will be in good hands.

This year the Montrose Brew Fest will feature beers from over 50 local breweries including Wolf Creek Brewery, Golden Road Brewing, Absolution, Angel City Brewery & Fireman’s Brew as well as food from several local restaurants. VIP tickets are available for $45 and entrance time is noon with no lines. General admission tickets are $35 and entrance time is
1 p.m. Since we all believe we should all drink responsibly, our Designated Driver Food Only ticket is $25. The event will be offering unlimited* sampling of micro brews and craft brews, as well as unlimited* sampling of food from participating local restaurants until supplies run out. The Montrose Brew Fest is a micro and craft beer tasting event that offers ticket holders the chance to sample regional and local microbrews and craft beers pared with food from our local restaurants. In addition to beer and food tastings, the event will also feature live music, free water, coffee and tea and more than enough fun! Just outside our beer garden area is the historic town of Montrose. Here you will find three blocks of storefronts with a variety of shops to peruse, many fine dining establishments, the country’s oldest children’s bookstore and a bowling alley right out of the 1950s. We encourage you to shop and dine before, during and after the event. Check out the website for a full list of participants and for new additions. Remember this is a ticket only event so help us keep the line down and pre-purchase your tickets today! This is a 21 and older event. Tickets are limited, so buy now at: www.montrosebrewfest.com. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Glendale Police Foundation and the Glendale Fire Fighters Club. The Glendale Police Foundation provides funding for public safety. The GPF is strategically focused on supporting the operational needs of the GPD to help fight crime and keep Glendale safe. The mission of the Glendale Fire Dept. is to protect life and property by providing the highest level of service to the community. The Glendale Firefighters Club, as with the other organizations, raises money for underfunded needs within the Glendale Fire Dept. Come enjoy the live music, cold brews and local fare, all for a great cause!

Another great event to attend is the Glendale’s Mayor Community Prayer Breakfast that this year will feature guest speaker Jim Fox. Fox is the Los Angeles Kings’ television analyst, former member of the Kings, ninth on their all-time scoring list and served as the Kings’ director of Community Relations for four years. The breakfast will be held at the Glendale Civic Auditorium, 1401 N. Verdugo Road in Glendale. Musical entertainment by soloist Jessica Sneed, lieutenant with the Salvation Army, and the Rosemont String Ensemble. A hot, buffet-style breakfast will be served. Doors open at 6 a.m., breakfast served at 6:30 a.m., program begins at 7 a.m. General admission seating is $30.
