Ronald Wehtje has been named chief financial officer of Adventist Health’s Southern California Region, which includes Glendale Adventist Medical Center, San Joaquin Community Hospital, Simi Valley Hospital and White Memorial Medical Center as well as dozens of ambulatory care sites and hundreds of primary care and specialty providers.
In this new role, Wehtje will serve as a financial leader with responsibility for the financial performance of the growing region that represents 40% of the system’s net revenue and nearly 50% of the physician partners. He also will develop and implement strategies that improve and expand the enterprise across multiple markets, business and clinical service lines. As a member of the Adventist Health finance leadership team, he will work closely with our CEOs and regional executives to develop the network, grow revenue and identify additional operating efficiencies.
“Ronald’s experience as a financial executive and his ability to be a team builder will be a tremendous asset as we continue to grow the Southern California Region,” said Beth Zachary, president and chief executive officer for the Adventist Health Southern California Region. “He brings a history of working with acute-care hospitals and physician practices which will benefit the region as we continue to expand our mission.”
Wehtje comes to Adventist Health with more than 30 years of experience and will assume his new role in early April. Since February 2015, he has served as vice president and chief financial officer of Care Delivery for Adventist Health System and its regional partner AMITA Health in the Chicago area with a projected 2016 total operating revenue exceeding $1.8 billion. While at AHS he was the senior vice president and chief financial officer for Adventist Midwest Health, executive vice president and chief financial officer for Adventist Care Centers and also controller for Tennessee Christian Medical Center.
Prior to his roles at AHS, Wehtje worked in financial roles at Palm International in Tennessee, e2 Communications Inc. and Pillowtex Corporation, both located in Texas as well as Ernst & Whinney in Salt Lake City.
Wehtje is a certified public accountant and earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.
