The Crescenta Valley High School Falkon Robotics Team 589 will be competing this weekend in a battle of the bots! The annual FIRST Robotics competition is being held this weekend at the Long Beach Convention Center Arena. The competition pits high school teams against each other in a game played by the team-built robot. This year’s game is called Stronghold.
Basically it’s a big obstacle course, Falkon Robotics Team Captain Justin Park said. The robots grab a target and move all the way across the field, climbing over several obstacles and staying upright. The Falkon Team 589 robot, named Winston, has been a project the team has worked on all year. The team will be heading down to the arena today, Thursday, in preparation for the qualifying rounds tomorrow, and the competition this weekend.
“If you’re interested in robotics or engineering,” Park said, “we really want you to come out. It will be a great event and you’ll enjoy it.”
The event will be held this Friday and Saturday in Long Beach. For more information, visit http://www.firstinspires.org/robotics/frc.
