Palermo Sworn In As New DAR Member

Local resident Cathy Palermo was sworn in as the newest member of the Don Jose Verdugo Chapter, National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution by Chapter Regent Lynne Thompson during a recent meeting. Palermo, who has worked with Chapter Registrar Lisa Harley diligently, learned her patriot ancestor had been accepted by NSDAR.

The DAR, founded in 1890 and headquartered in Washington, D.C., is a non-profit, non-political volunteer women’s service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history and is the largest women’s patriotic organization in the world. Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution, is eligible for membership.
