Rep. Adam Schiff named local residents Pat Anderson, Kimberly Holland and Jamie Keyser Thomas among his choices for 2016 women of the year.

“I met with women with varying backgrounds and interests, who have all worked tirelessly to make our communities a better place to call home. It was an honor to recognize their outstanding work in the 28th District,” said Rep. Schiff. “Each of these women has worked to support a myriad of charitable, business and local causes. They are all pillars in our communities and I thank them for their indomitable service.”

Schiff entered a special tribute to each woman into the Congressional Record and presented tributes to each woman.

Holland of La Crescenta has been working with the Professional Development Center of Glendale Community College, serving in the capacity of executive director for the past decade, and has overseen the training of employees from organizations and companies in Southern California. Schiff credited Holland’s “unparalleled leadership and steadfast commitment” to the ongoing success of the PDC.

Anderson is from La Cañada and is the president and CEO of the La Cañada Flintridge Chamber of Commerce and Community Association. Schiff commended Anderson on her “stellar leadership” citing both in the expansion of the chamber, both in the number of members and the chamber’s revenues.

Jamie Keyser Thomas of Sunland is currently a program manager of Los Angeles Community Engagement, which is part of the Citizenship division of The Walt Disney Company, where she helps produce and execute community outreach programs in the areas of creativity, compassion, and conservation in the greater Los Angeles region, particularly in the City of Burbank. In addition, Keyser Thomas runs Disney VoluntEARS, a program which provides Disneyland Resort cast members with opportunities to give back to the community through volunteer service. She also oversees the Disney VoluntEARS Leadership Council.

Other women recognized were Janet Diel of Burbank, Pauley Perrette of Hollywood, Linda S. Pura of Los Feliz, Dr. Frieda Jordan of Glendale, Abbe Land of West Hollywood, Karen Barnett of Atwater Village, Kelly Erickson of Echo Park, Helen Leung of Elysian Valley, Cheryl Revkin of Silver Lake and Dolores Diaz-Carrey of Pasadena.

In his statement, Schiff said that the honorees come from varying backgrounds and professions and represent the thousands of women who make a positive impact in their communities. While there are no specific criteria for nomination, Schiff looks for women to recognize who – through their work or volunteerism – have improved the quality of life for their community.
