»Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce “Our Business is Your Business”

Join the Crescenta Valley and the La Cañada Flintridge chambers this evening, Thursday, March 31, as we welcome Modella Uniforms to its new location, 3902 Foothill Blvd. in La Crescenta. The celebration begins at 5 p.m. with a ribbon cutting shortly after.    Refreshments will be served.

Graduating seniors and their parents all know it’s scholarship application season. The Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce each year offers four $250 scholarships to outstanding local seniors. Of the four, at least one scholarship will be awarded to a student entering a vocational school or apprenticeship program.  Students can pick up the application in the front office at CV and Clark Magnet high schools. They can also download the application off the Chamber website in the Golf Tournament section or stop by the office to pick up a hard copy. Submission deadline is Monday, April 11 at 2 p.m.

Each scholarship recipient will be requested to attend the CV Chamber Scholarship Golf Tournament. This year the tournament takes place Friday, June 24 at Scholl Canyon Golf Course. Students and their families receive their awards at the event with much fanfare. Many local businesses enjoy sponsoring the tournament and showing their support to the outstanding students. Sponsorship details are on our website (www.crescentavalleychamber.org/golf).

The biggest Chamber event of the year is just on the horizon. The 11th Annual Hometown Country Fair is only a couple of weeks away on Saturday, April 16 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Crescenta Valley Park. This free event attracts thousands – we’re hoping you’ll be one of them! We’ll once again have free shuttle rides to the park from two easy parking lots: the Park & Ride facility at Lowell and the 210 Freeway and at Bob Smith Toyota Scion.

A full day of music and entertainment is planned including performances by the CVHS Jazz Band, the Rosemont Jazz Band, country music band Desperate Measures and classic rock group Faith Alone.  We’ll see HIZA Yoo’s Korean Fan and Drum Dances, performances by Djanbazian Dance Academy and an exhibition by Master’s Tae Kwon Do. La Crescenta’s own Dana Ryan will inspire us by singing the national anthem.

The Chamber will once again host our famous hamburger/hot dog stand (with meat from Gelsinger’s and condiments from Dream Dinners). A full lunch for only five bucks! This year, we’ll have two more delicious options in our food court: kebabs and sides courtesy of the Armenian Cultural Foundation and Korean barbecue from the Korean-American Federation.

There will be carnival rides, inflatables, a vintage car show, a pie-eating contest, a dog parade and row upon row of vendors. Shop for goodies like jewelry, cards, essential oils, cosmetics, books, puppets and tempting edibles; check out exhibits of bugs and other collectibles; participate in art projects and soccer drills; and learn about non-profits and businesses that benefit our community.

See you at the Fair on April 16!
