High Voter Turn Out in Sunland-Tujunga

Record voter turn out was seen at Saturday’s Sunland-Tujunga Neighborhood Council elections.

The results of Saturday’s Sunland-Tujunga Neighborhood Council election are in.

“Two slates were presented to the voters,” said Jay Handal, Citywide Elections Administrator. “The election [had] 1223 ballots cast. That is double their normal ballot.”

These are elected non-paid advisory positions whose members work directly with the Los Angeles City Council and city attorney.

There was a recount of the ballots at the request of one of the candidates for one seat and an automatic recount with three other seats, Handal added.

Elected Region 1 Representatives are Ana Orudyan and Pat Kramer;

Region 2 Representatives are Gail Carlson and Katherine Juarez; Region 3 Representatives are David Barron and Rick Ramirez; Region 4 Representatives are Pati McArdle-Potter and Eve Sinclair.

For the board positions, Krystee Clark was elected president, Charlie Bradley first vice president, Dana Stangel second vice president, Aris Hovasapian secretary and Shooshig Susan Avakian treasurer.

Stakeholder Group Representatives are Jon Von Gunten-Neighborhood Watch, Edwin Miranian – Armenian Cultural Sasoon Assoc., Marlene Hitt – Historical Preservation, Julie Ann Cuddihy – Verdugo Hills High School , John Candler – Sunland Foursquare Church, Mark Seigel – Ham Radio Operator Organization, Richard Stewart – Service Club and Amelia Anderson – Sunland-Tujunga Homeless Working Group.

Installation of the board is scheduled to take place at the next scheduled meeting on April 13.
