Hindenburg Forum at Sparr Heights Community Center

A public forum is being held today, Thursday, April 7 at 4 p.m. regarding the Welcome to Hindenburg Park sign recently installed in Crescenta Valley Park. The community is encouraged to come and voice its concerns.

Sparr Heights Community Center is located at 1613 Glencoe Way in Glendale 91208.

Drug Seminar Planned

The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Dept.-CV Station is hosting an informative discussion and PowerPoint presentation regarding the signs of drug use and other related information. This seminar will be at the Lanterman Auditorium in La Cañada Flintridge on Monday, April 11 at 7 p.m. This is an adults-only seminar that will last approximately one hour. Light refreshments will be served.

The Lanterman Auditorium is located at 4491 Cornishon Ave.

Comments Wanted

The Glendale Unified School District is seeking comments regarding the upcoming change from an “at-large” election to a “by-trustee area” election. Four options are being voted on to decide how the school district will be divided into five areas.

Rosemont Preserve Restoration Day

The community is invited to the Rosemont Preserve Restoration Day on Saturday, April 9 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. to help protect the natural habitat at Rosemont Preserve. It’s time to prepare for fire season while the invasive grasses are in bloom but haven’t gone to seed yet. Volunteers will be doing some brush clearance in the outdoor classroom and south slope. Field trips are coming up and some trail maintenance needs to be done.

Wear sturdy shoes, comfortable clothes and garden gloves (long pants and sleeves are recommended). Tools will be available.

The Preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, please park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave.

This event is free to the public and suitable for all ages and no reservations required. Rain cancels event. Sorry, no pets please.

CVTC Hosting Forum on Medians

A public forum is being hosted by the Crescenta Valley Town Council on April 27 at 6:30 p.m. at the La Crescenta Library regarding the $1 million from L.A. County Supervisor Michael Antonovich to fund a median landscape project along Foothill Boulevard. The medians would stretch from Briggs to Pennsylvania avenues. This project is in the conceptual design phase, and the Los Angeles County Dept. of Public Works is looking for community feedback.

All are invited to participate in the forum. The conceptual plan will be available and questions can be answered. For those who are unable to attend, send your comments to contact@thecvcouncil.com by April 26.

Prayer Breakfast Tickets on Sale

Tickets for the 5th Annual CV Prayer Breakfast are now on sale. The breakfast is on April 23 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 4550 Raymond Ave. in La Crescenta.

The keynote speaker is Carmen Trutanich, former L.A. City Attorney. There will be performances by Rosemont Jazz Band, CV Charismatics & Hiza Yoo Korean Dance Institute. Tickets are $10 for adults, students are free.
