Valley View Holding Fundraiser
A fundraiser benefiting Valley View Educational Foundation/fifth grade class is being held on Wednesday, April 20 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Baja Fresh, 2637 Foothill Blvd. in La Crescenta. ‘Pizza Wars’ Coming to CVHS
Crescenta Valley High School’s Instrumental Music Dept. is hosting its first “Pizza Wars,” a fundraiser on Thursday, April 28 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event will be in the quad at CVHS. Participants will taste eight slices of pizza from different local pizzerias and then vote for their favorites. Pizzas will be judged on best crust, best sauce, best cheese, best pepperoni, and best overall pizza. The winning results will be announced at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $15, which includes a drink. Tickets are available from CVHS musicians and at the door. Live music will be provided featuring CV’s jazz band. All proceeds from the ‘Pizza Wars’ fundraiser will go directly to support Crescenta Valley High School’s Instrumental Music Department.

St. Francis High School Hosts Yard Sale
St. Francis High School in La Cañada is hosting a giant yard sale, rain or shine, in the school gym on Saturday, April 9 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday, April 10 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Among the items for sale will be furniture, household items, kitchenware and dishes, sport equipment, clothing and accessories, holiday and seasonal decorations and more.
St. Francis is located at 200 Foothill Blvd., La Cañada.
Sunland Elementary PTA Hosts ’50s Family Fun Night
It’s time to shake, rattle-n-roll at Sunland Elementary School’s annual ’50s Family Fun Night on Friday, April 8 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
This is the school’s seventh year bringing the school community together while raising money for the classrooms. This is open to the whole community. The event will have food trucks provided by Pena’s Tacos and B&R Burgers, ’50s music, sno cones, popcorn, root beer floats, nachos, cotton candy and much more.
Classic cars provided by Road Kings, swing dancers by Dance Now and jive dancers by Aletheia will also be featured. There will be activities, games, prizes and entertainment for families to enjoy. Guests will have an opportunity to help raise money for the school by participating in raffles with chances to win great things from spa services to food to tickets to Aquarium of the Pacific and more. Purchase tickets on the day of the event. Most items are only $1.
This is a ’50s themed event, so attendees are encouraged to come dressed in their ’50’s attire – just grease back your hair and grab your poodle skirt.

Electronics Recycling Event
Valley View Elementary School is having an electronics recycling event April 16 and April 17 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Bob Smith Toyota, 3320 Foothill Blvd. (south lot) in La Crescenta.
Computers, monitors, televisions, cellphones, CD players, ink & toner cartridges, printers – most all electronics will be accepted. Proceeds will benefit Valley View Elementary School.
Scholarships Available
The Community Scholarship Foundation of La Cañada Flintridge (CSF) has announced that the 2016 scholarship applications are now available. Fulltime students who attend a pubic or private school located within the city of La Cañada Flintridge, as well as Crescenta Valley High School, regardless of home residency, are eligible to apply for scholarships. Additionally, students receiving services associated with Hathaway Sycamores and Hillsides Pasadena are also eligible.
All required school and financial documentation, along with reference reports must be received by April 30.
Scholarship applications can be downloaded from the CSF’s website at http://www.csflacanada.org, or obtained at the college counseling offices of La Cañada High School, Flintridge Preparatory School, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy, Hillside School and Learning Center, Saint Francis High School, Crescenta Valley High School, Hathaway Sycamores, and Hillsides Pasadena.

The Cañada Auxiliary of Professionals of Assistance League of Flintridge, known as CAP, is offering scholarships to further the education of La Cañada Flintridge resident students. This year CAP is extending the reach of the scholarships to those students who live in the adjacent cities of La Crescenta and Montrose.
CAP Scholarships will be granted to students who will be attending a two-year college or an accredited occupational program in the fall of 2016.
Applications can be downloaded or a sample is available from counselors and/or scholarship staff at La Cañada High School, Crescenta Valley High School, St. Francis High School, Hillside Learning Center, Village Christian School, Glendale Community College, and Pasadena City College, or from Assistance League® of Flintridge, 4607 Oakwood Avenue, La Cañada after April 1, 2016. Applications must be returned to Assistance League® of Flintridge no later than Sunday, May 1 along with a one-page personal essay, verification of grades, résumé, and two sealed letters of recommendation. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
