Upset at Hoop Heroes Game

The 6th Annual Salvation Army Annual Hoop Heroes basketball game was held on Sunday. For the first time since the battle began six years ago, the Glendale Police Dept. team defeated the Glendale Fire Dept. team. The final score was Glendale Police 51 to Glendale Fire 38.

In other action, the Glendale Sunrise Rotary defeated the Glendale Noon Kiwanis in its annual grudge match 91-53. The highlight of this game was that no major injuries were reported.

In addition, the Glendale Special Olympic basketball team took the court to play an exhibition match and the youth players from the Foothill YMCA competed in a free throw competition.

The games were held at the Glendale High School gymnasium and profits benefitted the Salvation Army afterschool program The Zone.
