Verdugo Hills High School class of 1970 is having its 40-year reunion on Aug. 28 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The cost is $60 per person and includes dinner and music at the Angeles National Golf Club, 9401 Foothill Blvd., Sunland. NOON CONCERTS OPEN TO PUBLIC

Glendale Noon Concerts is a free admission concert series taking place every first and third Wednesday from 12:10-12:40 p.m. in the newly restored chapel and sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of Glendale (downtown at Louise & Wilson, no religious affiliation). Violinist Julie Metz will be performing “French Violin Miniatures” assisted by pianist Ralph Alberstrom on July 21.

VHH OFFERS BABYSITTING CLASSES FOR YOUTH

The Verdugo Hills Hospital Beginnings Family Education Program offers babysitting classes designed for boys and girls between the ages of 11 and 15. The babysitting class is an interactive course that teaches participants valuable skills, including infant/child CPR, basic first aid, home/auto safety, accident prevention, telephone skills, safety tips, when to call 911, poison control, fire/earthquake plans and other helpful childcare advice. VHBPWA HOLDING LUNCHEON

On Monday, July 12 the Verdugo Hills Business and Professional Women’s Networking Association is hosting a luncheon with guest speaker Sally McMahon speaking on Clearing Out the Clutter. The cost for members is $12. ‘SPEAK UP’ ANNOUNCES FUNDRAISER

Speak Up, an international advocacy organization that provides legal support for the voiceless and oppressed poor, is holding its annual fundraising dinner and silent auction at the Pacific Asia Museum Courtyard on Saturday, July 10 at 7 p.m. Speak Up directly intervenes with practical legal help in situations of exploitation and injustice against the poor in Bangkok, Thailand. Guest speaker is organization founder and international director of Speak up Troy Anderson. A CONCERT OF LOVE BEING PRESENTED

Theatre Americana and Show of Support Productions present “The 60’s Revisited – A Concert of Love” Saturday, July 24, 7:30 p.m. at the Doctor’s House at Brand Park. Pack a picnic, bring a bottle of wine (and maybe some mosquito repellent) and the kids for a lovely concert.  Admission is free, but we will be raffling a great gift basket donated by Nestle valued at $150. Tickets will be $5.

AMERICAN HEART ASSN HAS SAFETY CLASSES AT YMCA

The American Heart Association will be offering both CPR and first aid training courses during the months of July and August. The class sizes are limited and both certifications are for two years. The Heartsaver/AED (CPR) course covers adult, child, and infant CPR; child and infant choking; stroke detection and intervention. Classes last about three hours. The first aid course covers all the basics. These classes last about two hours.
