Pizza, music and some friendly competition. That’s what “pizza warriors” will find at the pizza wars event being held at Crescenta Valley High School on Thursday, April 28 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Hosted by the Crescenta Valley Instrumental Music Committee, the event will raise money for the CVHS Instrumental Music Dept. Funds will go toward paying for busses that take the students to festivals, instrument repairs, and even sheet music.

For a donation of $15, all entrants will become official culinary judges as they try a slice of pizza from eight different local pizzerias. It will then be decided which pizza is the winner among categories such as “best crust” and “best peperoni” ending with the choice of best overall pizza.

And is that all that tasters will be coming for?

“Just to eat some pizza? No, let’s play some music,” said Mathew Schick, Instrumental Music Dept. instructor who will be leading his award-winning jazz band alongside other talented student musical groups.

The creation of this fun event was born out of unlikely circumstances. Being part of the water conscious community that is Crescenta Valley, the Instrumental Music Dept. at CVHS cancelled its annual carwash, a very successful fundraiser, due to the drought. Therefore, this event was created to help raise the money the department.

All are encouraged to stop by CV High School to donate to the music department, help decide who the winner is in the pizza war and listen to some music.

Crescenta Valley High School is located at 2900 Community Ave. in La Crescenta.
