Paul B. Mekhitarian was born in Aleppo, Syria, on Aug. 1, 1953 to Nourijan and Ovsanna Mekhitarian. He was the middle child of three siblings – an older sister Silva, and a younger brother Zohrab. In January 1972, he met his wife Madlen. The two were engaged on June 16, 1974 in Beirut, Lebanon and were married on May 23,1976 in the Antelias Catholicosate in Beirut. The couple immigrated to Los Angeles in August 1976, and made their first home in Glendale. In September 1977, they were blessed with their first child, a daughter, Sona. In 1982, their second daughter, Susan, was born. In 1990, their third daughter, Christine was born. In 2009 Paul was blessed with his grandchild, Kayla. Paul transitioned from his previous career as a tailor and owned a Mobile gas station in Glendale. Then he opened and owned a tire business in La Crescenta called Performance Tire Center located on Foothill Boulevard for 21 years. He retired in 2005. Paul was renowned for his generosity and his joyful personality and always greeting friends and family with a brilliant smile. He died at the age of 62 in his home in La Cañada on Monday, May 16. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 21 at St. Sarkis Armenian Apostolic Church, 58 S. Sierra Madre Blvd. in Pasadena. Following the service he will then be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, located at 1712 S. Glendale Ave. in Glendale. Paul was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. We will miss him dearly. He will always be in our hearts and in our memories.
